IMPORTANT NOTICE

As Members of the organisation are aware, it had been proposed for the 2008 AGM that the meeting consider formally winding up the Reforming Alliance within the Uniting Church in Australia. At the Annual General Meeting of the Reforming Alliance held on 12 September 2008, the meeting approved this proposal and the RA executive has now applied to have the incorporation of the Association cancelled by the Commissioner of the Office of Fair Trading. This marks the end of the life of the Reforming Alliance, and comes about a year after the closure of EMU state branches, but as you are aware many RA and EMU members and congregations had already begun to put their efforts and resources into the new ‘umbrella’ group (ACC) which was formed in 2006.

There are limited assets left in RA, including a small amount of money – there are still some expenses to pay, and it was also agreed that any remaining assets of the Reforming Alliance within the Uniting Church in Australia be transferred to the Assembly of Confessing Congregations Inc. This is consistent with the requirements of the RA Constitution (Clause 108).
