The Basis of Union of the Uniting Church
Three denominations (Methodist Church of Australia, Presbyterian Church of Australia and Congregational Union of Australia) came together in 1977 to form the Uniting Church in Australia. The Basis of Union is the document that essentially set the platform, or ground rules, for how these churches came together. It includes the roles of the different areas of the church, such as the Presbyteries, the Synods, and the National Assembly.
